Football holds a special place in the hearts of Ethiopians, and Addis Ababa stands as a vibrant hub for nurturing young talent. Several football academies in the city are dedicated to developing the skills of aspiring players, providing structured training and fostering a love for the game.
Dreamland Football Academy
Established to offer year-round football activities for youth aged 9 to 17, Dreamland Football Academy (DFA) engages over 100 participants annually. Supported by professional coaches, DFA’s programs include weekly training sessions, internal league matches, and social events. The academy’s mission is to identify and nurture football talent, aiming to shape future generations of professional players who will contribute to the growth of Ethiopian football.
Raey Football Academy
Recognizing the challenges faced by today’s youth, Raey Football Academy (RFA) was founded to empower young individuals through sports. Licensed by the Sports and Youth Office of the Addis Ababa City Administration in October 2012, RFA focuses on enhancing the physical well-being and athletic skills of children and teens. The academy offers training across six age groups, from under-6 to under-18, in various areas of Addis Ababa, providing opportunities for both boys and girls to develop their football talents.
Roha Ethiopian Youth Football Project
Initiated by coach Tamire Teferra in March 2012, the Roha Ethiopian Youth Football Project began with a group of 30 boys in Addis Ababa. The project emphasizes discipline, responsibility, and teamwork, aiming to create a nurturing environment where young talents can refine their skills on the field while learning essential life lessons. Roha aspires to grow into the first private football academy targeting both young boys and girls in Ethiopia.
These academies play a crucial role in the development of football in Addis Ababa, providing structured environments for young athletes to hone their skills and pursue their dreams of becoming professional players. Through their dedicated efforts, they contribute significantly to the future of Ethiopian football.
